LIFE wins, 35-0 blowout!

17 Feb

well, I have hit the apex of 35 years old as of February 13th. I guess that’s not really a “peak age”, but it gives me something to do to act as though I am super old. And, I certainly don’t mean to offend those older than me.

I recently shaved my beard again which now has a little over a week’s worth of growth back in it. It wasn’t until last night, as I prepared for bed, that I really looked at it in the mirror. MY SPACE!!! I swear I did not have that many gray hairs on my face a week ago!!! My facial hair is becoming quite blonde. But, blondes have more entertaining engagements… Right?

Anyway, just had the chance to write a little bit. I hope all is well with all! Sorry again that I don’t have much chance to do this regularly. Getting closer to being able to afford taking on a new bill and get those damned internets set up at my apartment. That will be a joyous, “series of tubes” day!

Good Day!!!

had the time

13 Jan

Well, I got the chance to sit at a computer and put some letters to screen. I have finished my first week at the new job. Friday was my first day on my own and it was pretty good. I photographed 5 cars in the day. That’s about the average. So far so good.

At the parent’s homestead right now enjoying some time out of the city for Alyssa’s 2nd b-day. It’s been a nice visit. Alyssa is running around everywhere and saying whatever she can.

Well, that’s about it for now. Getting ready to go back to Chicago!

Back when I can!

Final Day

07 Jan

Well, here it is, my final day at my current job. I will actually start my new position on Wednesday instead of tomorrow. So, I get a day of relaxation before starting my “new beginning”. I actually prefer it that way.

I might not be back on this blog for a little while. Until I can start getting my better income then I will get my internets set up at home. I’m not sure how much computer access I will be given at my new job, so I might have to wait until I can get set up at home. I do know that I’m supposed to get a work e-mail, so I know I will have some regular access to the internets there. But, we’ll see if I can have time during lunch or something to access. Anyway, it just might be a little more infrequent with the blogs.

I hope all is well with you all.  Be back ASAP

A New Beginning

03 Jan

well, happy new year to everyone! It is official. I have a new J-O-B!!! I went in yesterday to meet the boss and to fill out the initial paper work(application). After the talk it was made official and I was told I was hired and received the standard “atta boy” hand shake.

I’ll start on Tuesday so I can get as many days in training with my friend Jake who is leaving the position. I will be a Web Content Photographer for a Lexus dealer in the city of Chicago. Mainly I will do cars, but there are other things that they will need for their website(facility shots, portraits, etc.). I will also be covering two other locations, one in the suburbs and another in the city. Seems like a lot of work! That will be good though. I need to get out of this chair and move around more!!!

The pay starts at $12/hr and has complete med coverage after 3 mos. There is also a 401 option after a year of which they will match half. pretty good! The “boss” told me he is usually pretty quick on the raises as long as I’m on time and doing a good job. He understands that it’s not a lot of money, but to start that’s what it will have to be. Jake hadn’t even been there a full year before he was up to $13.50. Pretty excited about that!

So, that’s about it for now. I’ve informed my current work that I will be leaving. Glad to have that out of the way and ready for a…

NEW BEGINNING!!!!!!!!!!!

She’s still got it…

27 Dec

Went to Decatur yesterday to visit Grandma Smith and also so Mom and Joe and Uncle Mike could take care of her funeral pre-arrangements. It was nice to see her and how lively she still is. She was being goofy and funny. Her memory is still good considering she made a joke about Joe moving a seat that Mom expected to still be there when she tried to sit in it again while at the social security office with Grandma back in September. She found the floor instead. This, of course, being mentioned after we had a laugh at Mom for flinging Baklava in her lap while we were at the Lincoln Lounge for lunch. Grandma asked Uncle Mike if he had ever seen their show (about Mom and Joe at the S.S. office). Funny stuff!!!

So, in all it was a good visit. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the holidays.

Happy New Year!!!

A blogging nation

23 Dec

Well, here I am everyone. exposing myself for your entertainment. I have to say thank you to my brother Eric for helping me get all of this set up. Actually, I should say for setting it for me, I really didn’t have to do much! THANK YOU!

What can I say? I am currently on day six of seven straight work days (five of which have been 13 hour days). This is what happens when you work in the retail industry for a cheap fucking company! We’re never closed!!! So, to have the days off I wanted for xmas leave, I had to work all these days so that I wouldn’t lose out on hours for the days I wanted off. Yes, I could have used vacation days, but I want to save what little I have left for more extensive traveling. Besides, I might be leaving here soon and i’d rather take those vac days as pay on top of working hours.

So, I’ve currently spent about 75 hours these past 6 days in this same position, staring at this same screen. I actually have a pain in my right shoulder that I swear must be from having my arm constantly on the desk working the mouse. it’s pretty bad! I still have tomorrow to go for 6 hours. Then, it’s off to Peoria to stuff my face and pass out on the couch and enjoy the company of family. Of course, the priority of that list is not exactly in order.

Have you ever been so tired, cold, or something and only had a block to go to get home or cross that finish line, but it just seemed like you would never make it even though you were so close? That’s kinda how I feel now. But, I am in better spirits today. So close to being out of here for a week! I’ve had a friend to talk to as well the past couple of days that really helped me get through it all. Thnx! =)

Okay, wrapping it up now… HA! Holy crap that was wicked funny! get it?… get it? “wrapping it up”! christmas? yeahhhh, I knew you would get it!!!   – Now insert Peter Griffin’s voice to that joke and commence to laughing hysterically!

Happy Holidays to you all!
